Description
Sometimes referred as “Liquid Gold” Argan oil is made from the edible part of the kernels inside the shell of Argan fruit of Argan Spinosa tree. It takes about 100 kg of the argan nuts to extract 1-2 kg of the oil, that is why argan oil is considered rare, precious and very expensive.
Argan Oil has spicy and nutty aroma. Its color ranges from light golden to rich red. The oil has high concentration of vitamin E and nearly 80% of fatty acids, particularly linoleic acid. Also, the oil contains antioxidants, carotenoids and polyphenols and it it is very resistant to oxidization.

History
Ever since VIII century the argan oil has been exported primarily to Middle East. Moroccan healers and berbers used it for treating sunburns, acne and rough, damaged skin. Also the oil has been one of the key elements in Moroccan cooking. Berber women used argan oil for beauty of hair, skin nails.

The Berber people called argan tree the tree of life, nearly every part of it was utilized in daily tribal life. The nuts were used as feed for goats and kettle, bark for lighting fire, oil from kernels has been extracted by berber women manually for cooking and skincare purposes.

In the recent decades Argan Oil has gained importance due to its medical benefits, skin care and cosmetic use. However, the amount of argan trees has been vanishing over the years, so the efforts have been done by Moroccan Government to preserve this unique plant

Origins
The over hundred year old trees are only found in Southwestern Morocco.

Usage
Argan oil has regenerating, anti-inflammation, moisturizing, toning, antioxidant properties.
With its high fatty acid contents, carotenoids and vitamin E, argan oil is a real food for skin. It is one of the major anti-age oils, able to protect skin agains environmental damage and contribute to skin’s elasticity, tightness and smoothness.

This oil is a wonderful natural remedy for treating stretch marks and skin infractions after pregnancy. The composition of the argan oil makes it a natural protector from UV damage.

Argan oil is beneficial for relieving muscle tension or any joint pain. You can just mix a few drops of argan oil and couple of drops of thyme essential oil and massage it into effected area.

DIY Tips

For stretch marks and skin toning mix one spoon of argan oil with 5-7 drops of neroli essential oil and a drop of lemon essential oil and massage into effected areas.

To nourish hair mix one spoon of argan oil with two spas of extra virgin olive oil and few drops of orange essential oil.
